Velo Club Baracchi was well represented in the Godric CC 10-mile club time trial, with the top rides of the night.

VCB riders were Mark Richards (21:11), Liam Gentry (21:21), Lucas He (22:37), Paul Hayward (22:38), Paul Dennington (23:12, Alex He (personal best of 25:29 and on the tandem John Swanbury and Ali Banks (22:54).

Richards and Gentry took the top two places, with Simon Scott of Anglia Velo third in 22:04. Dennington had the quickest VCB ride in the Gt Yarmouth CC club 10 at Lound, with 23:55, relegating the club's quick junior Lucas He, who finished in 23:57 despite having wait for traffic at a junction.

Alex He's time was 27:50 and Richard Allen's 30:34. Fastest rider was Anglia Velo's Simon Scott in 23:18.

Swanbury and Banks rode the tandem in Anglia Velo's open 10 on the A14 at Risby, heading west towards Kentford.

They were well beaten by the Velo Schils Interbike RT team of Gary Pamment and Barry McDonald, but pleased to record a slight improvement on the previous Tuesday with 22:44.

Wrentham rider Denise Hurren of Sole Bay Cycle Sport took second prize in the ladies' awards with a personal best 22:46.

As their last farewell event in VCB colours before swapping for DAP CC's navy blue, green and white, Richards, Gentry and Nick Esser took part in the Diss CC men's road race and had sound results.

The weather stayed dry in the men's race, though not in the ladies' one, and a bit of action on the front broke the peloton up two thirds of the way through the race.

Richards finished 14th, four ahead of Gentry and both in the bunch, with Esser not so swift.

There was one rider clear, Jim Bradford of Cambridge CC, followed by three riders together just 11 seconds later and the bunch thundered in after about six more seconds, all given the same time but recorded in the right order by the timing chips.

John Thompson rode the Suffolk Lanes Extravaganza 210km (131.25 miles) audax organised by CC Sudbury and based at Bildeston and he took 12 hours to complete the distance.

The route was via Wickham Skeith, Halesworth, Iken, Orford, Rendlesham and Framlingham and then broadly via Debenham and Needham Market back to Bildeston.
