Waveney Girls say thanks for Birds Eye sponsorship

MORE than 50 girls from Waveney Youth FC’s U8, U10, U12, and U14 girls teams, came to say thanks to Stuart Larter, representing Birds Eye Lowestoft, who kindly presented a cheque of £1000 to demonstrate the company’s commitment to the local community and their keenness to assist the development of girls’ football in the area.
The sponsorship will allow Waveney Youth FC to continue their successful development of girls football by increasing participation and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. The club recently raised the awareness of girls football by visiting local schools in north Lowestoft and held some successful taster sessions, which enabled them to form two new teams who are now sporting brand new football kits sponsored by Birds Eye with their familiar logo on the shirts of the Under 8 Leopards and the Under 10 Vixens.
Similar events are again planned in the near future with a view to forming some new teams in preparation for next season.
The club, however, also caters for those girls who are perhaps unsure about joining a team yet and would like to invite those to come along to the Saturday Football Club at Barnards Meadow from 10am to 11.30am, under head coach David Butcher, and join in with a friendly group of girls who have a great time.
If you are a player or someone who is keen to get involved in coaching girls football and would like more information please contact the girls development officers Hadyn Everson on 07747 451808 or Stuart Walker on 07890 335771, or visit www.wyfc.co.uk. “Waveney Youth FC would like to extend their sincere thanks to Birds Eye and factory manager Craig Hamilton for his generosity and support,” a club spokesman said.
