Waveney give title chasers a good run for their money

Waveney gave Anglian Combination title challengers Harleston Town a decent test before going 2-0 in their penultimate game of the season.

Needing to win to stand a chance of pipping long-time leaders Spixworth to the silverware, the home side were two up at half time through Brendan Burke and Nathan Russell - but that’s where the scoring ended.

Waveney have one game left to play, with a trip to Wroxham Reserves tomorrow afternoon. The game, which kicks off at 2.30pm, is being staged at the Open Academy at Salhouse Road.

No matter what happens at the weekend Waveney will finish the season in sixth place, an excellent chaievement.
