Waveney had to settle for a point from a 3-3 draw as hosts Blofield pegged them back three times in their second Anglian Combination Premier Division game of the season.
After a great defensive display in the opening game against Caister, who ended goalless, Waveney produced three individual errors that cost them the win.
Waveney made one change to the starting 11 as Sam Clay replaced brother Mark on the right wing. Waveney began well and Clay beat his man and squared across goal for Nelson Carinhas to tee up Tom Mawford for a precise finish in the opening minute.
The visitors looked like adding to the scoreline but on eight minutes an unmarked Blofield player headed home from their first corner.
Waveney lost Bradley Hough with a twisted knee as he was replaced by Mark Clay. They continued to create and get in behind Blofield and regained the lead on 16 minutes. Mawford found Mark Clay whose fine run ended with a smart finish from close range.
Blofield hit back 10 minutes later as the home side were gifted a second from another set-piece. The quality of the attacking play was still good and the visitors immediately took the lead for a third time as Mark Clay sent Sam Clay racing clear and a smart finish from just inside the box made it 3-2 on 32 minutes.
The second half saw a much improved Blofield frustrate Waveney and they never really got going. Blofield equalised on 60 minutes when the visitors lost possession in the middle of the park and some smart wing play saw a cross turned home from close range.
James Langdale and Andrew Hammersley replaced Carl Burgess and Rich High as Waveney went in search of a winner but Blofield comfortably saw out the remainder of the match. Ivy House Country Hotel man of the match: Johnny Jarvis.
The draw for the first round of The Suffolk Senior Cup sees Waveney with the toughest possible draw as they face the holders Achilles at Saturn Close. Next up on Saturday is a home league match against Norwich CEYMS.
Waveney: J Jenner, M Wilson, K Shand, R High (A Hammersley 65), R Bloomfield, J Jarvis, S Clay, C Burgess (J Langdale 75), T Mawford, B Hough (M Clay 10), N Carinhas.
