ROYALS REVIEW

WE'VE been preparing hard for our FA Vase tie at Needham Market tomorrow.

We trained once last week and trained on Tuesday and last night. The advantage we have got is the artificial pitch to train on although last week even that was under snow. Fortunately, that's cleared now and we can train as normal really.

The only good thing about not playing games recently is the fact they haven't played either. It's the same for both, although to be honest I think we've played even more than they have. We played two games over Christmas and I think they only managed one.

They're a good side, second in the table. We played them a few weeks prior to Christmas which was a very even game. In fact, in the first half we had more chances than they did and could have been in front at half time, but unfortunately we missed a few chances and they went in 2-1 up.

We're looking forward to the game and a lot of people might have us slightly as the underdogs, but we'll see on the day, and I fancy us.

I think sometimes teams can underestimate you. Like we've always said, we're a young side and sometimes when you have a young, hungry that's harder to play against than a team of old heads.

But you never how they're going to come out of the blocks really. We'll be giving it 100pc and I know the lads are all up for it. They fancy a real run in this competition.

It's unfortunate we've been drawn against each other because you'd like to see both teams progress. But I think looking at the teams left in it, there are a lot of teams who are unfavoured really, so whoever gets through this game has got a good chance of progressing further.

The only thing we have got is Chris Henderson suspended, which is very unfortunate, but we've now got Andy Key who is able to fill that slot.

Andy hasn't played that many games prior to joining us but having said that he's been training with us the last couple of weeks and he's looked really sharp in training so I'm sure with his experience as well he'll be an asset against Needham.

We have also secured the services of Ally McKenna from Lowestoft Town. He's a player we've been interested in for a while and we've finally come to an agreement this week.

He'll be available for selection tomorrow. A lot of our guys will know about him, some of them won't.

He's a fantastic striker who can also play on the right side of midfield and I think he'll be a big signing for us.
