WELSH international midfielder Owain Tudur Jones is rumoured to be on the verge of joining Norwich City.

The 24-year-old is out of contract at Swansea City and is believed to be about to undergo a medical at Carrow Road.

WALES international Owain Tudur Jones was today reported to be joining Norwich City as their second summer signing.

The 24-year-old midfielder, out of contract at Swansea City, was believed to be having a medical at Carrow Road.

Tudur Jones, capped four times by his country, has been with the Swans for four years, during which time he has recovered from a career-threatening knee injury.

But his first team chances have been limited at the Liberty Stadium and he made just 14 senior appearances last season before spending two months on loan at Swindon Town.

Tudur Jones, who joined Swansea from Welsh Premier League side Bangor City for £10,000 in 2005, has played 56 times for the club in all competitions, scoring four goals.

At one point he travelled to the United States to receive treatment by knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman to cure a long-running knee injury.

The 6ft 4ins Tudur Jones, born in Bangor, made his international debut for Wales against Luxembourg in March 2008. He has been offered a new deal by Swansea but is understood to be keen to move on, and has been linked with Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday.

If the deal goes through, he will become manager Bryan Gunn's second midfield recruit of the summer after Norfolk-born Matthew Gill signed on a free transfer from Exeter last week.

As transfer activity picks up with pre-season training less than a fortnight away, the Canaries are also reported to have asked Birmingham if they can take 'keeper Colin Doyle on a season-long loan.

The Blues are understood to be prepared to loan out the 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international as they are set to sign Joe Hart from Manchester City.

It means the future of Norwich 'keeper Stuart Nelson remains unclear. Nelson, 27, still recovering from an ankle operation, is out of contract at the end of the month. He has spent a year with the Canaries without making a first team appearance, and they have yet to announce whether he will be offered a new deal.

City have also been linked with 23-year-old defender Magnus Okuonghae, who has rejected a new deal with Dagenham & Redbridge.
