SHORTEN BRIEF

SATURDAY delivered a good result and a very competent performance, it was however severely dampened by a bad injury to young Bodie Carter.

A broken fibia, which will sadly see him sidelined for what's likely to be the rest of the season. He was discharged from hospital this week and we will be fully supporting him through this tough time.

We started the game strongly and had Felixstowe on the back foot from very early on. We created a number of great scoring opportunities before we opened the scoring from a smart Paul Highfield finish.

We went in at half time only one goal up when it should have been far more comfortable and we were punished straight after the break when some poor defending gifted them with a free shot on goal.

Now at this stage last season we lost to Felixstowe in similar circumstances, so it was real encouraging that we responded and continued to take the game to them. We quickly got ourselves back in front with a great run and finish from Nathan Stone.

Then came the unfortunate injury to Bodie - a very strong tackle, which for me was dangerous and had intent to hurt - but went unpunished.

This incident galvanised our players and we raised our game further and scored a fantastic third goal through Chris Henderson. We should have gone on to score five or six goals in total but our finishing was the only piece of our game that lacked a bit of quality.

Tomorrow we travel to Whitton where we hope to continue our good run of form.
