Six young Waveney skaters took part in the Retroskate Regional Rookie Competition, performing in competition for the first time.

In the basic skills solo for five years and under, Ellie-Mae Davey performed her routine with style and confidence, winning a bronze medal.

In the six to seven category Abbie Coppen skated a pleasing routine for a creditable fifth place.

The eight to nine age group produced more excellent performances, with Esther Dunster skating well to earn a seventh place while Lily-Mae Hanson glided into eighth position.

Libbie Glover was placed ninth while Skye Utting was awarded 10th place.

All six girls then skated in the basic skills duo event. Ellie-Mae and Abbie took fifth place, with Esther and Lily-Mae sixth and Skye and Libbie seventh.

Beginners’ sessions take place at Denes High School on Saturday mornings (10-11am) and adult sessions on Mondays (7.30-8.30pm). See www.waveneyrsc.co.uk
