WITH just over one week to go until the opening night of the Lowestoft Players' pantomime, director Stephen Wilson is promising some brand-new attractions for audiences.

'Half the fun of pantomime is deciding upon what special comedy business to include within the storyline,' he said.

'Pantomime is like baking a giant fruit cake: getting the right balance and mix of ingredients is so important. This year we have pulled out all the stops, and we have some real treats in store for our audiences.

'Many of them are brand new, and we will be performing them for the very first time.'

As well as the large cast of zany characters, this year's extravaganza boasts a mega-messy gunge tank, two unique experiences performed by the Black Theatre of Fantasy, a spoof take on The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing and a hilarious scene involving the 12 Days of Christmas.

And as if that were not enough, there is also the Crazy Castle Ride - an action-packed film journey through Lowestoft at top speed.

Lowestoft Players have performed a pantomime in the town for more than 40 years.

Beauty and the Beast runs from Saturday, January 24 to Sunday, February 1 at the Marina Theatre, Lowestoft. There are nightly performances at 7.30pm, with 2.30pm matinees on Saturdays and Sundays. To book your tickets call the box office on 01502 533200.
