LOWESTOFT'S Marina Theatre will be hosting a series of movies with more than 50 Bafta nominations between them during its latest winter film season.Slumdog Millionaire, Frost/Nixon, Milk, The Reader, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Changeling, Revolutionary Road and Doubt are all set to be screened between now and April, having clocked up a mass of award nods.

LOWESTOFT'S Marina Theatre will be hosting a series of movies with more than 50 Bafta nominations between them during its latest winter film season.

Slumdog Millionaire, Frost/Nixon, Milk, The Reader, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Changeling, Revolutionary Road and Doubt are all set to be screened between now and April, having clocked up a mass of award nods.

The season kicks with eight times Bafta nominated film Changeling starring Angelina Jolie, based on the true story of Christine Collins, whose nine-year-old son disappears and everything is not as it seems.

It screens from Wednesday to Friday, February 4 to 6.

Following Changeling is the twenties comedy Easy Virtue on Friday, February 13, about the impetuous marriage of a young Englishman and glamorous American.

For all die-hard fans, High School Musical Three is on the next day and to celebrate the half-term school holiday Madagascar Escape to Africa is showing on Wednesday, February 18, where the zoo raised crew hatch a plan to escape via an old crashed plane the penguins have repaired.

On Tuesday, February 24, Peter O'Toole stars in Dean Spanley, while on Thursday and Friday, February 26 and 27, Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman bring Australia to the big screen.

It centres around the story of an female English aristocrat and a rough-hewn local, who reluctantly agree to join forces to save a land she inherited.

Disney's Bedtime Stories plays on Saturday, February 28, telling the story of Skeeter Bronson's life when the bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew start to mysteriously come true and Body of Lies screens on Monday, March 2.

Five times Bafta nominated The Reader plays at the Marina Theatre nightly between Tuesday and Thursday, March 3 and 5. It tells the tale of 15-year-old Michael who is rescued by Hannah, a woman twice his age. They begin an unexpected affair only for Hannah to suddenly and inexplicably disappear. Eight years later they meet under very different circumstances.

This is followed by Slumdog Millionaire between Sunday and Tuesday, March 15 and 17, which has attracted 10 award nominations. Starring Dev Patel it concentrates on the fortunes of an 18-year-old orphan who has the chance of winning the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

Six times Bafta nominated film Frost/Nixon follows this on Friday, March 20, showing the surprise when Nixon decided to choose Frost as his televised confessor and between Monday and Thursday March 23 and 26, Daniel Craig plays a very different role to James Bond in Defiance concentrating around the fate of four Jewish brothers living in Nazi occupied Poland.

Valkyrie, starring Tom Cruise plays on Monday and Tuesday, March 30 and 31, based on the true story of Colonel Claus Von Stauffenberg and the daring plot to eliminate one of the most evil tyrants the world has ever known.

Brad Pitt fans will enjoy 11 times Bafta nominated film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button on Wednesday, April 1, about the life and times of a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards.

The day after Revolutionary Road hits the screens. Nominated for four Bafta's, it's also showing on Friday, April 3, and focuses on Frank and April, a married couple in the 1950s who have always seen themselves willing to live their lives based on higher ideals, which is soon questioned.

Milk, up for three Baftas, screens on Tuesday, April 7, starring Sean Penn as the first openly gay man to be voted into public office in America and Seven Pounds is showing from Wednesday to Thursday, April 8 and 9.

Will Smith features as Ben Thomas, an IRS agent with a fateful secret.

The last two films of the season are The Young Victoria between Monday and Thursday, April 20 and 24, detailing the early years of the monarch and Doubt on Monday and Tuesday, April 27 and 28.

It centres on the vibrant priest Father Flynn who enters into a battle of wills with Sister Aloysius Beauvier threatening to tear the church apart.
