AS Disco Fever hits the stage in Lowestoft next week, the cast of the latest Lowestoft Players musical Boogie Nights received good wishes from the original star of the former West End production Shane Ritchie.

Shane is a personal friend to the Anderson family, whose daughter Jemma is appearing in the show at the Marina Theatre and she received the surprise letter in the post on Saturday.

The former star of Eastenders began his career at the age of 16 as a Blue Coat at Pontins, in Pakefield.

Shane wishes the award-winning theatre group good luck saying: 'And give the rest of the cast a 'big up' from me. Especially Roddy coz that Roddy is ME! Big kiss to ya! X Shane Ritchie.'

He not only played the lead role of Roddy in the original production but also co-wrote the script.

Lee Nevill will be stepping into Shane's shoes for the production which focuses on the adventures of a Jack-the-lad character in the search for his ultimate dream. Other principal roles will be played by Beccie and Tim Simpson, Darryl Peek, Chris Penn, Melanie Greaney, Julia Higgins and Peter Simmen.

The 1970's musical is packed with over 30 disco hits, including You Sexy Thing, YMCA, I Will Survive, In The Navy, Celebration, I Love To Love, Boogie Wonderland, and many more all performed by a cast of 35 and a live on-stage band.

The production will be staged for six performances from Tuesday to Saturday, nightly at 7.30pm and with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. Tickets are now available from the theatre box office on 01502 533200.
