THE curtain finally goes up on the Lowestoft Players' latest pantomime extravaganza tomorrow night as Beauty and the Beast opens at the Marina Theatre.

After a 40 year tradition of presenting their pantomime over the Christmas period, this is the first time the Players will be performing in a new late January slot and they are ready to put on another exciting show.

Publicity officer and pantomime director Stephen Wilson said: 'Rehearsals have been a real hoot. We have a really excellent cast of local performers led by Nick Garrod as Dame Clarissa Clutterbucket and John Marjoram as Bobble Fixit, who will be pulling out all the stops.

'Woven into the plot we have also included a mega-messy gunge tank, the black theatre of fantasy, a spoof take on both the X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing and finally the Crazy Castle Ride, an action packed fast film journey through Lowestoft.'

In true Players tradition, all the ingredients will still be there, and much, much more as Beauty and the Beast takes audiences on a breath-taking roller-coaster ride of fun and enchantment.

Beauty and the Beast runs from tomorrow through to Sunday, February 1, including four matinees. To book tickets call 01502 533200.
