LOCAL bands will once again be uniting next month as one of Lowestoft's music highlights returns for another year.
The third instalment of K Fest will see some of the region's finest bands performing at The Fishermans Wharf as they raise funds for charity.
The event remembers the life of local musician Karen Sturgess, who died aged 39. She organised the first festival in May 2008, raising �2,000 for the Big C Appeal. Karen, known as Kay, performed at the event and before she lost her battle with cancer the following month, asked that the festival continued to be held each year.
Last year's event raised �3,000 for the Sandra Chapman Unit of the James Paget Hospital, in Gorleston, Macmillan Nurses and the Big C Appeal, and this year organisers are hoping to emulate that success.
K Fest will take place on Sunday, May 30. Bands will play outside from noon with acoustic acts also playing inside. Amongst the bands already confirmed to play are Clever, Riding Shotgun, Jericho, Nevacain, Monkey Island, Big Red Boat, Russian Seduction and Claw of Panther. In addition there will be a balloon release, face painting, raffle, comedy vocalist Katrina Knight and other special guests.
