The Old Time Radio Club is visiting the Seagull Theatre in Pakefield next month to deliver an innovative workshop.
The group will deliver 'Radio Play in a Day' on Tuesday, August 29, between 10am and 4pm. This is an innovative workshop, which will teach young people how to replicate radio plays from the golden age of radio transmission, when radio was the only form of mass broadcast.
The group performs authentic vintage radio dramatisation under broadcast conditions, using voice actors, live music, live sound-effects and a live studio audience.
The Old Time Radio Club, who have performed at theatres, festivals and conventions around the country, will be resident at the theatre with a team of workshop leaders comprising professional performers, writers, script-editors and musicians.
They will work with students passing on skills to enable them to produce their own show, which will include warm-up scripts, live sound-effects, incidental and jingle/theme music composition, authentic 1950s style advertisements and the radio show itself. At the end of the day, the young people will perform their work to an invited family audience.

The workshop is happening as a result of a grant awarded by ESYPAG – The East Suffolk Youth Priority Action Group – which aims to improve the variety of opportunities for young people across the Waveney and Suffolk Coastal areas.
The workshop is suitable for children aged 11 to 13 and is free to attend, but has limited places so spaces must be booked in advance. To book a place or to find out further information, email Stephen on contact@thevoicecloud.co.uk or call 07909 510 976.
