Residents and businesses in a Suffolk town are being encouraged to get involved in a virtual Halloween Trail after its Pumpkin Festival has been cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions.
Everyone, including shops and businesses in Beccles, Suffolk, are encouraged to decorate their gardens or windows with ghosts and ghouls, witches and broomsticks and carved pumpkins to celebrate Halloween this year.
Original plans for the festival involved visitors from Beccles’ twin town Petit-Couronne in France coming over for three days to decorate pumpkins given away last Spring by Beccles Twinning Association.
Covid has put these plans on hold but Twinning Association has decided to support the Beccles Carnival Committee by offering a prize for the best homegrown pumpkin, carved or uncarved instead.
The pumpkins across town will then be judged and the prize for the best one is a free meal at the Butchers Arms, Beccles.
