IF you can hold a tune, enjoy performing in front of a crowd of people and always fancied a go in a recording studio, then Pub Stars 2008 could be the competition for you.

IF you can hold a tune, enjoy performing in front of a crowd of people and always fancied a go in a recording studio, then Pub Stars 2008 could be the competition for you.

The National Pub Stars competition has proved a hit over the last three years with nearly 700 pubs and over 20,000 people entering in 2007. This year it is set to return and hopes to be even bigger with an estimated 2,000 pubs set to participate.

Golfers Arms in Great Yarmouth has again entered the karaoke competition following a successful 2007 event that saw their winner, Craig Smith, go on to make the national finals.

From February 3 singers in this area will be offered the chance to take their first step to stardom as the pub on North Denes Road begins its series of heats.

These will be held throughout February, March, April and May, with the pub final due to be held in May. Here a cash prize of £150 will be up for grabs with the winner going on to represent the venue in regional heats.

Selected finalists will then take part in the September grand final, which will be held in London. The lucky overall winner will receive £3,000, a day in Easy Karaoke's studio recording a gold disc of their winning performance and the opportunity to sing live in front of record industry talent scouts.

If you think you've got what it takes to be the Golfers Arms star, contact Dilys or Darren on 01493 331841 or email golfersarms@talktalk.net
