THERE'S variety on offer at the Seagull Theatre, in Pakefield, over the next two weeks.

Tomorrow sees the return of former Kirkley High teacher David Butcher, now an acclaimed academic and author of over 14 books on local history and fishing in Lowestoft.

His latest local history evening is based on his book Development and Change in a Coastal Town - Economy and Society in Pre-Industrial Lowestoft 1550-1750.

A long-time supporter of the Seagull, David also has a forthcoming book Rigged For River and Sea to be published later this year.

Moving from local history to theatrical history, October 3 features the visit of a production of the late Harold Pinter's masterpiece The Caretaker.

The play was the breakthrough in Pinter's career and stars local professionals Andrew Wisher, Roger Lee and Nick Murray Brown, who recently played Basil in the Seagull Rep's acclaimed production of Fawlty Towers.
