Legends of music and of the screen will be taking centre stage at the Marina Theatre in Lowestoft over the next week.
Kicking off the week will be a showing of Nothing Like A Dame, a unique celebration of the lives and careers of four of our most iconic actresses Dame Eileen Atkins, Dame Judi Dench, Dame Joan Plowright, and Dame Maggie Smith.
All four have gone from being fledgling actresses in the 1950s to acting royalty and they have watched each other’s careers grow and bloom and have celebrated life’s ups and downs together.
Nothing Like a Dame invites you to spend time with these acting legends as they talk about their lives and their professional experiences across theatre, television and film.
It will be shown twice today (Friday, May 18) at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
Another big screen offering will be Funny Cow, which charts the rise to stardom of a female comedian through the 1970s and 1980s.
The film, which is which is set against the backdrop of working men’s clubs and the stand-up comedy circuit of the North of England, will be shown at 2.30pm and 7.30pm on May 19, 20, 21 and 22.
Then live entertainment will return on Friday, May 25 with a tribute to arguably the most influential band in music history.
The Magic of the Beatles will be an authentic, lively dose of ‘Beatlemania’, and will take you through all of their best known hits through the catalogue of the Fab Four.
A spokesman for the Marina Theatre said: “The stars of this lavish production not only look and sound like John, Paul, George and Ringo, they also generate the same incredible excitement and unique sense of humour too.
“Bringing you all the hits you know and love including Love Me Do, She Loves You, Please Please Me, From Me To You, Help, I Feel Fine, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Hey Jude, Let It Be and so many more.”
