Beethoven and Rossini next in 40th season for Waveney Sinfonia

Rossini and Beethoven will be the music to Lowestoft residents’ ears when the Waveney Sinfonia next perform.

Continuing the celebrations of their 40th season, the orchestra’s next concert is on Saturday, May 5 at St Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft.

Young Suffolk pianist Yu Zhou Zhang, who grew up in Ipswich and attended the Junior Guildhall School of Music, followed by Chetham’s School of Music, is in his third year at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

In 2016 he won the prestigious John Longmire (Beethoven) competition and will play Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 at the concert.

The programme also includes Rossini’s Overture, La Cenerentola (Cinderella) and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, part of which was used as the main theme for the Oscar winning film The King’s Speech.
