WAVENEY Light Opera Group is offering the opportunity to get involved in their autumn production of Calamity Jane.

On Monday director Philip Allum and musical director Stella Brownsea will present their ideas on the production and go through some of the music and script of the show to anyone interested in performing or helping out backstage.

The evening will be held from 7.30pm at Quaker Hall, Smallgate, Beccles.

On Wednesday classical singer and teacher Joanne Knight will be running the first of two singing workshops.

Joanne Knight began her musical career as a folk and rock musician before moving to London to train as a singer at the London College of Music. She taught for many years on the performing arts course at Great Yarmouth College, performs regularly in concerts and song recitals around the region, and is a member of Claxton Opera.

Her two workshops for Waveney Light Opera Group will illustrate a number of vocal techniques and will cost £5 for members and £10 for non-members, covering both evenings.

The first workshop will be held in the Beccles Quaker Hall at 7.30pm, with the second workshop taking place the following week.

Further information is available from Stella Brownsea on 01379 854720.
