An annual Christmas tree festival will return to Somerleyton this weekend as festivities across the region get under way.

The Somerleyton Christmas Tree Festival is taking place at The Parish Church of Saint Mary on December 2 and 3.

Organiser Mary Truman said: “Visitors will be treated to a stunning display - the picturesque church will be filled with a variety of trees decorated by local groups and organisations.

“The village school, pre-school and Somerleyton estate have all contributed trees.”

She added: “Bring your friends and enjoy this festive occasion.”

A host of festive goods and refreshments will also be available to accompany visitors as they wander through the decorated Christmas trees with proceeds raised going on to help a number of cancer charities.

The church will be open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and 10am till 3pm the following day.

A Christingle Service will be held after the festival on Sunday.
