Dave Gorman: Sit Down, Pedal, Pedal, Stop and Stand Up, Marina Theatre, Lowestoft

CYCLING across the stage with a cheerful wave, Dave Gorman arrived in Lowestoft on Tuesday with the look of a man happy to be back on the road.

And although he is cycling from venue to venue as part of his tour, this was not a tale of adventure from the well-known storyteller, but instead a mix of well-crafted comedy stories with everyday observations.

Indeed, apart from mentioning his delight at reaching the country's most easterly point and pointing out his intriguing suntan, the subject of his cycle ride to the four extremes of the British mainland was barely covered.

Instead, in a two-hour plus display of comedy stamina he delighted the audience with his amusing anecdotes and insight into his own insecurities. With jokes about a surprisingly foul-mouthed nephew and a story detailing the lengths that the audience had driven him to find humour proving particular popular.

As with past shows, twists and turns and a hilarious conclusion - which must be kept secret - made for a fantastic ending, and sent a packed house home very happy.
