LOWESTOFT's Marina Theatre has this week announced that it has secured extra screenings of the critically acclaimed film Atonement (15).

The British film, which has already won two Golden Globes, this week received 14 nominations in the Orange British Academy Film Awards, with nominations including Best Film.

The tragic period romance, adapted from the novel by Ian McEwan, will be screened on Monday, January 28 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, with a third screening at 2.30pm on Wednesday, January 30.

Meanwhile this weekend family flick Stardust will screen.

The film, based on the best-selling novel by Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess, takes audiences on an adventure that begins in an English village and ends up in an imaginary world.

Stardust (PG) runs tonight at 7.30pm and tomorrow at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

On Tuesday and Wednesday the critically acclaimed western The Assassination Of Jesse James (15) will be presented at the Marina. Brad Pitt and Mary-Louise Parker star in the story that follows the private life and public exploits of America's most notorious outlaw.

As the charismatic and unpredictable Jesse James plans his next great robbery, he wages war on his enemies, who are trying to collect the reward money and the glory that accompanies his capture.

The Assassination Of Jesse James (15) will be screened on both nights at 7.30pm and a 2.30pm on Wednesday.

On Thursday the Marina's big screen will be showing The Jane Austen Book Club (12A).

The film reveals the lives of six book club members reading six Austen books, as six interwoven story lines take place over six months in the modern city of Sacramento.

The Jane Austen Book Club (12A) will be screened at 2.30pm and 7.30pm on Thursday.

Other films set to be screened at the Marina as part of its winter film season include Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium (U), Enchanted (PG), Lions For Lambs (15), The Kite Runner (12A), The Darjeeling Limited (15) and The Magic Flute (PG).

Tickets are £3.50, with concessions, friends of the Marina and children £2.50, and can be booked in advance or purchased on the door.
