AFTER listening to material from well in excess of 100 artistes, the organisers of Halesworth's Gig in the Park have managed to whittle the contenders down to form the final line-up for this year's event.

The festival, which is now in its 11th year, will be headlined by soul legend Geno Washington, The Blockheads and Lee Vasey.

On Friday, August 1, Geno Washington will head a line-up that also includes ska supremo Pauline Black, indie art band Audioporn and Norwich indie act The Fuzz.

Saturday's headliners The Blockheads will be supported by former Stranglers singer Hugh Cornwell, indie pop act International Trust, The Bollywood Brass band and electro genius Pixelh8.

The final night of the festival will see Lee Vasey supported by stadium rockers Frontbum, the Blind Lemon Soul band, folk duo John Ward and Mario Price, 6 Day Riot and Ben Griffith.

Amongst the numerous other supporting acts over the weekend will be Marble Heart, P Unit and Six Degrees of Separation.

Tickets will be on sale at Halesworth's Thoroughfare event on Sunday, June 29, and from local outlets and the UEA Box Office from Monday, June 30.
