WITH Christmas just around the corner, Lowestoft's Marina Theatre has a host of entertainment for all the family to get you in the festive mood.

On Wednesday, December 3, at 7.30pm, Lowestoft Christ Church presents Ready, Steady Christmas, a mix of local artistes and groups including the Beccles Singers, Lowestoft Signing Choir, Kevin Barry and Neil Jeffers.

Popular Gorleston based Chorus of St Cecilia presents its popular Christmas Spectacular on Friday and Saturday, December 5 and 6. Produced by Matthew Hardy, the event will be further enhanced by the addition of two professional dancers to bring a touch of ballroom glitz to the proceedings.

As well as starring in major musicals, Hannah Powsey and Antonio Tengroth also perform ballroom dancing in events and shows across the country and will perform a specially choreographed routine. With Christmas songs and carols, Dickensian London and nativity scenes the evening also features local soloists.

From December 11 the Marina presents Lowestoft's first professional pantomime in half a century - Peter Pan, starring Ken Farrington, Emmerdale's Tom King, as Captain Hook, CITV Toonattik's Jamie Rickers as Smee and Hollyoaks Sarah Jane Buckley as Mrs Darling. They bring with them a full supporting cast including acrobats, dancers and a live band.

It's guaranteed to be a thrilling journey of laughter and joy that will captivate all ages with stunning special effects including some amazing flying, sumptuous costumes and a good helping of fairy dust.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra brings its fourth year of residence at the Marina Theatre to an end in style on Sunday, December 14, at 7.30pm with a gala evening of carols for audience, choir and orchestra along with festive songs and music.

And for just two performances only, management at the Marina have secured the world famous Russian State Ballet of Siberia who along with their orchestra will present The Nutcracker on Wednesday, December 14 and Thursday, January 15, nightly at 7.30pm.

In a magical new production, this most famous of fantasy ballets opens as night falls on a traditional fireside scene on Christmas Eve. Audiences will be transported to an enchanting world where toy dolls come to life as an army of soldiers do battle with a gang of mice and a Nutcracker is transformed into a handsome prince.
