Films return to the Marina big screen

JANUARY sees the return of films to the Marina Theatre, in Lowestoft, with some top big screen entertainment lined up.

JANUARY sees the return of films to the Marina Theatre, in Lowestoft, with some top big screen entertainment lined up.

The season starts tonight at 7.30pm with Bright Star (PG). Starring Ben Whishaw and Abbie Cornish, the highly acclaimed drama is based upon the romance between poet John Keates and Fanny Brawne.

The latest animated version of A Christmas Carol (PG) will be screened tomorrow. The classic tale features the voices of Jim Carrey, Colin Firth, Gary Oldman and Bob Hoskins, and is shown at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, with an additional 2.30pm matinee on Sunday.

At 7.30pm on Sunday it will be the turn of comedy Nativity (U), starring Martin Freeman and Alan Carr, to be shown.

Me And Orson Welles (12A) is to be screened on Monday and Tuesday at 7.30pm, while Glorious 39 (12A) will be running on Wednesday at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, and Thursday at 7.30pm.

Other films set to run at the theatre over the coming weeks include 2012 (12A), Amelia (PG), Sherlock Holmes (12A), Nine (12A), Avatar (12A) and Harry Brown (18). In addition a host of family screenings will include Fantastic Mr Fox (PG), Up (U) and Where The Wild Things Are (PG).

To mark World Holocaust Memorial Day on Wednesday, January 27, the Marina is presenting two special screenings of the highly acclaimed The Boy In Striped Pyjamas (12A). Screenings take place at 2.30pm and 7.30pm and admission is free through personal applications at the box office.

Admission to all other films at the Marina cost £4 for adults with over 60s, theatre friends and children priced at £3 each.
