Gala Day promises a full day of fun

FINAL preparations are being made for Lowestoft Lions annual extravaganza taking place on Bank Holiday Monday at Nicholas Everitt Park, Oulton Broad.

The Gala Day is one of the summer highlights in the area and organisers are confident that they have a programme of events to entertain all members of the family.

The Gala Day is one of the summer highlights in the area and organisers are confident that they have a programme of events to entertain all members of the family.

“We aim to keep all ages entertained and offer great value for money while raising funds for local charities,” said a Lowestoft Lions spokesman.

The gala opens at 9am and goes right through to the late evening when there is a fireworks display.

Attractions include music, dance, comedy, arena displays, motor boat racing and the renowned Maiden in Distress competition.

The Gala Day arena will feature a host of displays including the Above and Beyond Trapeze show, the Lowestoft Alsatian and Dog Training Society, Rebelpro USA-style wrestling, the Eagle and Vulture Show, Waveney Valley Brass Ensemble, Waveney Gym Club and the Jumpinjax dance group.

Dynamic Fireworks Ltd will be responsible for the firework display which is expected to get underway from 9pm.

Hospital Radio Yare will be broadcasting throughout the day and will keep everyone informed of the events taking place at various times throughout the day.

A free park and ride service is available from the A146 Beccles Road and Ivy Lane, Oulton Broad areas.

Entry is priced at £6 for adults and £1 for under-15s.
