ONE of the most spectacular events ever to visit Lowestoft commences an eight performance run on Wednesday, as the world-renowned Russian Ice Stars return to the Marina Theatre with their brand new production Cirque de Glace.

Some of the world's finest performers will star in this incredible fusion of explosive Olympic-standard skating, acrobatics, aerial acrobatics and extraordinary circus, guaranteed to thrill all ages.

Following the enormous success of their first visit last December with Beauty and The Beast On Ice, this new production will take pride of place in the forthcoming autumn/winter season and prove a major economic boost to the town as the production usually only tours into major cities.

Colin Angus, Executive Producer for Wild Rose Ltd, said: “We are delighted to be returning to Lowestoft with our internationally acclaimed company of skaters this autumn. Wild Rose has been presenting the Russian Ice Stars in the UK since the early 90s and we are certain the production will both enchant and enthral audiences just as our previous shows have done in venues across the country.”

Manager of the Marina, Martin Halliday said “We are delighted that the fabulous Russian Ice Stars will be returning to the Marina. Once again our audiences do not have to travel hundreds of miles in search of high quality family entertainment, I am delighted and extremely honoured to have been able to secure this terrific production for the Marina.”

Stephen Ardley, portfolio holder for the Marina at Waveney District Council is equally pleased. “In recent years we have seen some of the most amazing productions staged at the Marina and the news of this latest coup is certain to maintain the high calibre of theatrical productions we continue to enjoy. I am certain that the return of a major ice show will once again prove an enormous hit with the public.”

Staging a major international ice show will once again prove one of the most difficult events to stage at the Marina with a special ice surface being built out across the stage and into the auditorium, huge lorries containing the refrigeration plant, lighting, costumes and scenery will have unloaded and assembles by theatre staff in time for the opening night.

Cirque de Glace runs from Wednesday until Sunday, November 9, including evening shows, matinees and two shows on the Sunday. Tickets range in price from £16.50 to £28.50. Call the box office on 01502 533200.
