THE award winning Lowestoft Players are looking for a number of strong singers to form a large static choir, who will perform in their next production, the musical Chess.

The Players are currently finalising casting auditions for this ambitious musical, which has a musical score written by Tim Rice, plus Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus of ABBA fame.

Stephen Wilson, the show's director said: “Chess is a fabulous musical, a romantic love story with an amazing sung through musical score, which spans pop, rock and classical.

“There is a great deal of part singing, which is usually backed by a strong vocal choir. We are looking for strong singers who enjoy singing in harmony as the score requires sopranos, tenors, altos and bass.”

Rehearsals will be mainly Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings working towards the final performance week, when the show is staged at the Marina Theatre from Tuesday, May 19 to Saturday, May 23, nightly at 7.30pm.

Anyone interested should contact Deanne Dickson on 01502 567114 or attend an open choir audition on Friday, February 20, at The Players' headquarters at 32a Stradbroke Road, Pakefield at 7.30pm.

Tickets are now on sale at the Marina Theatre box office, phone 01502 533200.
