More afternoon shows planned

FOLLOWING the success of its regular afternoon film screenings a number of live events will now include a matinee performance or have been specifically scheduled during the afternoon at the Marina Theatre in Lowestoft.

FOLLOWING the success of its regular afternoon film screenings a number of live events will now include a matinee performance or have been specifically scheduled during the afternoon at the Marina Theatre in Lowestoft.

The first of the summer matinee series takes place on Sunday, May 25, at 3pm, with the Wartime Nostalgia Show, We'll Meet Again. With songs from the legendary Vera Lynn, Donald Peers, Gracie Fields, George Formby, Bing Crosby, and famous comedians, Robb Wilton, Max Miller, and Tessie O'Shea, audience's will be able to relive the spirit of the forties with hits from the blitz.

Forthcoming comedy Doctor In The House starring Damian Williams and Eric Potts has an afternoon performance at 2.30pm on Saturday, June 7, followed by a 2.30pm performance of the classic thriller Strangers On A Train starring Hannah Waterman on Saturday, June 14.

A matinee performance of All You Need Is Love, on Saturday, June 21 is a major new musical production celebrating the swinging 60s and popular Norfolk funny man Olly Day brings an afternoon of music, comedy and variety on Sunday, July 6.

The award winning Spirit Of The Dance includes a matinee on Saturday, September 6.

Forthcoming major shows at the Marina, including Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Buddy and Cirque De Glace will all feature matinee performances.

A spokesperson for the Marina said: “We are pleased to announce a number of additional matinee performances this year. This has been in response to customer feedback and will be in addition to our popular afternoon film screenings which will also continue. If the extra matinee performances prove successful we hope to include more throughout the winter months too.”
