THE Marina Theatre in Lowestoft hosts a sell-out performance by some of the top bands from the 1960s tonight as The Tremeloes, Herman's Hermits and The Union Gap UK present a night of nostalgia showcasing all their original hits.
Hosted by Alan Mosca, former member of Freddie and The Dreamers the concert begins at 7.30pm.
Tomorrow at 7.30pm the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra presents the latest event in its 2010 residency. Concert goers are promised a memorable evening as two of the World’s top opera singers join the orchestra on stage.
The concert is devoted to the most popular operatic overtures, scenes and arias of all time and features tenor Wynne Evans and soprano Deborah Norman. Just a few seats remain available for this concert which is conducted by Simon Phillippo.
Operators of the Battery Green multi storey car park adjacent to the Marina have agreed to open on both Friday and Saturday evening, with parking free to theatre patrons from 6.30.
On the Marina Big Screen on Tuesday is the hit comedy The Rebound (15) starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Justin Bartha. Screening at 7.30pm.
Adam Sandler, Salma Hayek and Chris Rock star in comedy Grown Ups (12A) playing on Wednesday, also at 7.30pm.
It’s back to live entertainment on Thursday as rounding off a busy week from Thursday is classic Ealing comedy The Titfield Thunderbolt. Written by TEB Clarke adapted by Philip Goulding from the original screenplay, the branch line between Mallingford and Titfield is losing money and British Rail is intent on closing it down. In desperation the villagers exploit the 1947 Transport Act and decide to take charge and run it themselves - with a train resurrected from a local museum!
As well as convincing the railway authorities that they are competent to work the line, they have to face problems from Vernon Crump who is set on providing a competitive bus service.
Starring from Heartbeat David Lonsdale and from Last Of The Summer Wine, Sarah Thomas, The Titfield Thunderbolt will be at the Marina until Saturday, October 9, with performances nightly at 7.30pm with a matinee on Saturday at 2.30pm.
