Orchestra to play two masterpieces at Marina Theatre in Lowestoft
England’s most easterly amateur orchestra makes its second visit to the Marina Theatre with two wonderful classics.
Waveney Sinfonia returns to the Marina Theatre to play two masterpieces, written within five years of each other in the 19th century- each standing alone as a musical milestone.
Dvorak was the first composer to show that a low instrument like the cello could sing out over an orchestra. Listen for the lovely tune in the middle movement. The concerto will be played by rising star Daniel Benn- who is studying as a postgraduate at the Guildhall in London.
Elgar’s Enigma Variations is regularly near the top of the Classic FM favourite 100 and, given how good it sounds this is no surprise.
The performance takes place on January 14 from 7.30pm.
Tickets cost between £7 and £12.
