Gusset, a Shirley Valentine style one-woman show, is being performed by Elaine Pantling.

It focuses on the character of Pauline Potter, who has worked in a factory for 20 years and feels trapped. She's desperate to embrace a life as a writer and with her new book, Gusset Path to Life, anything seems possible.

Tickets are just £7 for two people if you cut out the coupon on this page and take it into the box office in Morton Road or quote The Journal when booking over the phone.

The weekend programme kicks off this evening with an illustrated talk by John Holmes.

He returns to the theatre to present his fascinating journey through Lowestoft's rich history over the past 100 years.

Taking the audience through the two world wars, the fishing industry, post war views and adverts from the yesteryear, to name but a few elements, he will share his personal memories and experience.

Having been born and brought up in Pakefield John has not only researched local history in great depth but has also collected an amazing amount of slides, pictures and other graphic memorabilia. Tickets are £4.50.

Sunday night's performance of With a Little Help From My Friends has been postponed but on Thursday the play Indian Summer by Lucy Maurice will be performed.

Set in a British railway station cafe one Sunday evening, two girls, who have 12 secrets, compare their rootless lives and dream about possible escapes. The same two actresses play all the other roles, as various women come into the cafe in differing states of despair, inebriation and joy.

Aside from all the fun at the theatre, the Seagull Rep are making their first tour date this evening by taking celebrated show Rat in the Skull to Bungay's Fisher Theatre.
