Top artists lined up at the Marina

LOWESTOFT'S Marina Theatre has entertainment for all the family over the next few months, as a number of top named artistes, shows and attractions take to the stage in 2010.

On February 5, Sarah Jane Buckley and David Paisley star in Over the Rainbow, an award winning musical production that pays an emotional tribute to the late Eva Cassidy.

Birds Of A Feather star Lesley Joseph leads the cast of Hot Flush - The Musical on March 19 and Casualty favourite Clive Mantle takes on the immortal role of Tommy Cooper in Just Like That on March 20.

Other live theatre includes the chilling thriller the Black Veil and the national tours of hit comedy Hi De Hi and Stop Messing About - the highly successful follow up to Round The Horn Revisited.

Comedy comes in the form of Robin Hawdons' The Mating Game, which will see the return of the hugely popular Damian Williams. While comedy of a more adult nature will see sets from Roy Chubby Brown, Jethro, and Jim Davidson.

Family shows in the new season include Peppa Pig's Party, Noddy, The Little Big Club and Show Me with CBBC stars Chris Jarvis and Pui Fan Lee. The prestigious Birmingham Stage Company returns from March 11 with Roald Dahl classic George's Marvellous Medicine.

Further star names set to grace the theatre's stage will be Ken Dodd, and John Challis and Sue Holderness, aka Boycie and Marlene.

Amongst the musical highlights in-store for theatre goers are Jane McDonald, The Bay City Rollers, Chris Dean's Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Charlie Landsborough, Go West and The Soldiers.

Strictly Come Dancing favourites Brian Fortuna and Khristina Rihanoff present a special showcase and there is a chance to find out more about the classic Thunderbirds puppets with co-creator Sylvia Anderson.

In addition to the new season, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will enter an unprecedented sixth year of residency at the Marina, starting with a Beethoven gala on April 24.
