THE 2006 BBC Young Musician of the Year is set to appear in the region this weekend as part of the highly-acclaimed Southwold Concert Series.

Tomorrow Mark Simpson will perform a selection of romantic classics from the clarinet repertoire, together with pianist Ian Buckle, as well as works by Mark-Anthony Turnage and Simon Bainbridge.

Since winning BBC Young Musician of the Year, Mark has won over audiences with his bold stage presence and daring repertoire, playing at the last night of the proms and writing pieces for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.

Series Director Nathan Williamson said: “This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who's ever wanted to watch a Proms performer and witness superb classical music, first hand.”

Tickets for the Southwold Concert Series, at St Edmund's Church, are £10, including refreshments. They are available from 01502 726161 or sophie.moore@springadvertising.co.uk
