Win Gig in the Park tickets!

THIS year's Gig in the Park at Halesworth promises to be one of the best ever with a strong line-up of top musical acts.

Organised by a group of volunteers to help raise funds for local good causes the Town Park at Halesworth will be transformed into a magical music venue over the weekend of August 6, 7 and 8.

Organised by a group of volunteers to help raise funds for local good causes the Town Park at Halesworth will be transformed into a magical music venue over the weekend of August 6, 7 and 8.

Tickets for the event are on sale and selling well but the Lowestoft Journal and the Beccles and Bungay Journal are offering readers the chance to win one of two pairs of weekend tickets valued at £60 each.

Headlining act on Friday are the ever popular Showaddywaddy who have a huge back catalogue of chart hits including Under the Moon of Love, Three Steps to Heaven and Hey Rock and Roll.

Also on Friday Mundo Jazz will be making their first appearance at Halesworth. The band have been described as a Latin American Spinal Tap and were a big hit at this year's Glastonbury festival.

On Saturday punk legends The Undertones take to the main stage.

Formed in 1978 and championed by the late DJ John Peel they have had hits with Teenage Kicks, My Perfect Cousin and Jimmy Jimmy among others.

Supporting on Saturday will be Swedish banjo punk queens Baskery who are making major waves in the music industry and were also a hit at this year's Glastonbury festival.

On Sunday there is a welcome return of Lee Vasey and his Big Band who will no doubt have everyone dancing in the park.

Also appearing on Sunday are Bungay blues act Hot or Wot and north Suffolk's act The Austin Beats.

There will also be a strong line-up of local acts on the second stage and there will also be a wide range of stalls and refreshments at the park all weekend.

Advance tickets for the event are available from www.ueaticketbookings.co.uk and are also available at Halesworth Bookshop, Morlings of Lowestoft and Saxons of Beccles.

Weekend tickets cost £30 for adults in advance or £37 if available on the night, under 14 weekend tickets cost £19 in advance or £24 on the night. Tickets for individual days are also available.
