ONE of the region's most eligible bachelors found love last weekend when he met his first girlfriend.

The rugged, cuddly, brown-eyed thrill-seeker, Woody Bear, found a new love in his life after placing a lonely hearts advert in The Journal.

Women who responded were given free entry to Pleasurewood Hills on Saturday and over 50 singles gathered for their chance to impress the famous bear, who picked out Rosie Bear.

Park director Yves Delhommeau said: “Rosie Bear is a lovely lady and the perfect companion for Woody. They share a desire to always have fun in life and have a mutual love of roller coasters. Rosie spent some time in the park, trying out the rides and greeting other visitors before meeting Woody. We're very happy for Woody and hope that the romance continues to blossom as they go out on their first date.”

Pleasurewood Hills is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary and this event was one of many special celebrations taking place to mark the occasion, which peaks with a big birthday bash Party in the Park on August 2.
