A vision for further improvements to Lowestoft seafront could take another important step forward next week as revamp plans are earmarked for approval.
Works centring around the third phase of improvements to reinvigorate Jubilee Parade will come under scrutiny.
Phase three of the Eastern Edge project focuses on the redevelopment of the Jubilee Parade complex on Lowestoft South Beach.
Plans - which will complement the Eastern Edge beach huts next to it - centring around: "Demolition of existing single storey café kiosk, store and public WC block" along with a "proposed new two storey building with a first floor café" and "concessions space, small kiosk, external showers, toilets and changing places facility" on the ground floor, were lodged with East Suffolk Council in November.
A scheme submitted by agents Chaplin Farrant Ltd on behalf of the applicant East Suffolk Council will be voted on at a meeting of the council's planning committee north on Tuesday, January 9.
Councillors will be told planning officers recommend approval of the proposed development, subject to conditions.
A planning report to councillors states the "deemed council development" seeks approval for a development "comprising the demolition of existing single storey café kiosk, store and public W.C. block, and the erection of a two storey building."
It adds: "The application also includes a lift to provide access from the Upper Esplanade to the lower beach level, as well as an extension to the Lower Promenade including a projection out of the existing sea wall in front of the proposed building."
The proposals are "considered to enhance the character and appearance of the Conservation Area" and "provide economic benefits to the area."
With Lowestoft Town Council recommending refusal amid concerns there was "no permission in place for the construction of the proposed new two storey building," two objections around a "lack of seating along the promenade" were raised.
In recommending that permission be granted subject to conditions, the council's case officer's report to councillors concluded: "The proposal will be a positive for the town through regeneration of a prominent seafront location."
